Privacy policy for TWN Wi-Fi apps
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This policy applies to TWN WiFi Analyzer Free and TWN WiFi Expert Pro, published by TWN CONSULTING (EURL), 8 Villa Frédéric Bazille, 77186 Noisiel, France. Contact: contact@twnconsulting.fr.
The 1.0.0 versions reviewed work without an account, advertising or telemetry sent to TWN Consulting. Wi-Fi measurements and projects are used on the device. Some tests connect to the local network or the Internet as explained below.
1. Data used and purposes
Depending on the features available and used, the apps read the current connection and visible Wi-Fi networks: SSID, BSSID, frequency, channel, signal strength, security settings and other radio characteristics. They use these details to display networks, monitor connection quality and provide diagnostics.
Measurements may include timestamped latency, jitter, packet loss, DNS resolution, connectivity and speed results. Local device discovery may display IP addresses, names, advertised services and estimated device types. The Pro version may associate measurement points, floor plans, notes and photos you select with a project. This information supports the features you request and the reports you choose to create.
2. Android permissions
- Precise location and nearby Wi-Fi devices: Android requires these permissions to access Wi-Fi scan results and network identifiers. The apps do not use this information to track your movements.
- Network state, Wi-Fi state and Internet: reading the connection and running network tests.
- Pro version: a location-related foreground service, notifications and wake lock for measurement and monitoring features that need them.
You can revoke permissions in Android settings; dependent features may then stop working. Any photos you add are selected using device features.
3. Network connections and recipients
Gateway, DNS, ping, TCP, HTTP or speed tests contact the required targets when you start a test or enable continuous monitoring. Depending on the test, these can be your gateway or a target you specified, connectivitycheck.gstatic.com (Google), cp.cloudflare.com, speed.cloudflare.com or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare). Device discovery queries the local network, including short connection checks and mDNS, SSDP or NetBIOS requests.
External services receive the usual technical details of a request, including the public IP address, and apply their own privacy practices. Local devices may see queries sent to them. The versions reviewed do not send your scans, projects, photos or reports to a TWN Consulting server. If you open our website from an app, the website privacy policy applies to that visit.
4. Retention, exports and deletion
Data saved by the app remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app's data in Android or uninstall it. Files you export or share, such as PDF or CSV reports, remain wherever and with whomever you choose; they must be deleted separately. Device backups depend on your Android settings.
Data kept in the app's private storage benefits from Android's app isolation. Exported reports leave that private storage: protect them when storing or sharing them according to the sensitivity of your network.
An SSID, BSSID, IP address, floor plan or photo may reveal information about a location or organisation. Review a report before sharing it.
5. Advertising and analytics
The 1.0.0 versions reviewed contain no advertising or embedded audience analytics. TWN Consulting does not sell data from the apps. The external services listed in section 3 support network tests rather than TWN telemetry.
6. Questions and rights
For questions or requests concerning your data, email contact@twnconsulting.fr. Where data is stored only on your device, TWN Consulting has no copy and cannot access or erase it remotely. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
7. Changes
This page will be updated if app features or data practices change. The date above shows its latest revision.
